Foster Homes

We desperately need Foster Parents! This means you are responsible for providing a safe and loving temporary home for the dog(s) of your choice. Your job is just to love and feed and care for the animal(s) in your care. We provide anything you need for them while in your care (food, crate, etc.) and pay all medical expenses. You would be responsible for getting them to/from any vet appointments, getting them to adoption events and talking with potential adopters about that pet via email or phone. Fosters provide an invaluable resource to help these animals become family pets and able to find their forever homes!

Daily Care of Dogs

This entails letting dogs out to go potty and play while cleaning their runs/kennels/crates and feeding and watering them. We normally have about 40 dogs to care for.

You need to be physically fit, able to lift at least 55 pounds, and be capable of handling large dogs. This is a very physical job, and you will get dirty!  Hours: 9am - 1pm and/or 5 pm - 8 pm

Help Make Phone Calls

We need someone to call adoptive parents to get updates and follow ups after adoption. We'll email you the lists of names/numbers and you can do this in your free time at your convenience.

Fundraising Drives

We need people (or groups) to work on raising support and supplies (such as food, cleaning supplies, blankets, etc). This is a great project for schools, Girl & Boy Scout troops, church groups, etc!

Help at Adoption Events

We need responsible people to help at events to help watch/walk dogs, talk to people and do adoptions.
Hours: Saturdays, 11 am to 4 pm.

Help with Baths and Grooming of Dogs

We have bath days one Sunday a month during the warm months and need 4-6 people to help with these. It's a fun and "wet" day for everyone. Hours: 12 pm - 4 pm

Volunteers are very much appreciated and there are number of ways you can help.

Please note: Volunteers of all ages are welcome and we'll find the appropriate way for you to help. Children can always help by participating in food and supply drives, voting online and getting their friends involved. If you want to help with the care of the animals or events you must be at least 16 years of age.

You must love animals and be dependable! Thanks for wanting to help!

We also appreciate Community Service Volunteers and can provide "double hours" in some cases!

Transporters

We need people we can call or email to help transport dogs from shelters, typically in Jacksonville, Daytona, Deland or Orlando, to Bunnell. We also need help with getting dogs to and from vet and grooming appointments or to and from adoption events.

We rescue most of our animals from shelters that are "high kill" and euthanize a large number of animals. Unfortunately, sometimes we can't save them just because they don't have a "ride."

If you can help with this, it literally saves lives! All you need to do is go to the shelter we are picking up from and get the animal(s) and bring them either to us in Bunnell or a prearranged meeting point.

We normally save animals from the following shelters, so if one is near you we would sure appreciate the help!

  • Putnam County Animal Services in Palatka, FL
  • Levy County Animal Services in Bronson, FL
  • Orange County Animal Services in Orlando, FL
  • Baker County Animal Services in McKenney, FL
  • Broward County Animal Services in Ft Lauderdale, FL
  • Jacksonville Animal Care & Control in Jacksonville, FL
  • Clay County Animal Control in Penny Farms, FL
  • Bradford County Animal Control in Starke, FL
  • Miami Dade Animal Services in Miami, FL

    Please note:

  • You would need to provide your own crate(s). All dogs need to be crated for their safety.

  • All animals MUST be transported inside a safe and secure vehicle.

  • No animals should ride in the back of a pick up truck unless there is a camper shell on it.
